Research and Health Application

*Note: Project required an NDA. Parts of this project may be excluded as it is proprietary information

The purpose of the research and health application was as follows:

1. To allow researchers from across the country to conduct research in a central location without travel
2. To securely onboard new employees and researchers without long and complicated turnarounds
3. To keep track of hardware and software used in research
4. To minimize the time needed to manually make patient data anonymous by replacing the process with AI

Research Methodology
The primary research method was user interviews. This type of application hadn't been done before, so there were few, if any, real-life examples to pull from. The team and I spoke directly with our client and their users to get an understanding of the solution that would benefit them most.
User Interviews: Researchers, Product Owners, Potential Users

1. To allow researchers from across the country to conduct research in a central location without travel
This solution was accomplished through the use of VR to allow researchers to conduct research in a secure research environment.
2.  To securely onboard new employees and researchers without long and complicated turnarounds
Issue: the long, difficult, and oftentimes disorganized process didn't allow for a swift onboarding of researchers which hindered their ability to quickly and effectively communicate with other researchers.
Solution: We created a method of onboarding that used blockchain to securely add new users, and biometric access to add another level of security. The new process would also allow researchers multiple levels of access to different research departments.
3. To keep track of hardware and software used in research
Issue: Researchers were required to use hardware and software specific to the research facility; however, the IT department at the facility found it difficult to keep up with hardware and software updates, locations, and use history.
Solution: Create a centralized location to not only show updates but remotely update software and keep track of hardware from any location.
3. To keep track of hardware and software used in research
4. To minimize the time needed to manually make patient data anonymous by replacing the process with AI
Issue: Employees at the medical facility would take exorbitant amounts of time to de-identify the data that would be sent out to researchers. This data was de-identified to comply with HIPPA laws and keep patient cases anonymous.
Solution: Using AI to automatically and instantly de-identify data and expedite the research process. Researchers would have access to this data in a large database and this would also expand the number of medical professionals who could have access to this data because it's anonymous.
